Public performances in music schools are an essential part of the educational music process. The theoretical section explains the concepts of emotions, public performance, and music school. The most common emotion in the context of public performance is fear, specifically performance anxiety. Unlike fear, which is undesirable and considered social anxiety, stage fright is a desirable natural state because it encourages individuals to perform at their best. Techniques and exercises to overcome performance anxiety and reduce stage fright are described. The research was conducted at the Milko Kelemen Music School in Slatina. Students (N = 46) completed an anonymous questionnaire about their attitudes toward public performances, the emotions they experience during performances, and the support they receive from teachers, parents, and peers. Differences were compared based on gender and age, as well as family musical tradition. The research results showed that students have neutral attitudes about whether they like or dislike public performances, but they certainly feel satisfaction after performing. It is favorable that students do not experience fear of public performance but rather have symptoms of stage fright. It is extremely positive that students feel they have the support of teachers and parents during public performances. Considering gender, age, and family musical tradition, there are no statistically significant differences, but it is worth noting that older students tend to have more symptoms of anxiety compared to younger students.
