The main goal of this thesis is to present a multifaceted program of a solo concert by providing composers' biographies, translations of songs and arias and their formal -interpretative analysis. The interpretation of a musical composition relies upon technical singing skills that are incorporated in the piece along with the musical analysis and a thorough explanation of the given text. Furthermore, the thesis touches upon social and historical apects of the analysed musical piece in order to provide a better understanding of the hidden ideas and meanings. Therefore, Aria Antica and Oratorio Aria Deh piu a men non v'scondete by G.M. Bononcini and Ich will dir mein Herze schenken by J.S. Bach date from the Baroque period characterized by both the uniformity and continuity of the rhythmic flow accompanied by invigorating coloratura and melodic embellishment. The solo concert comprises two Mozart's arias from the period of Classicism: Orgi Amor from opera The Marriage of Figaro and Or sai chi l'onore from opera Don Giovanni. Mozart's work is considered to be the pinnacle of refinement of Glück's reformed operatic form. Mozart's operas bring to the forefront a high level of dramatic tension and a perfect harmony of notes and words. Furthermore, the characters are presented realistically according to different situations and destinies. The compositions for a solo concert such as Auf dem Wasser zu singen by F. Schubert, Warum sind denn die Rosen so blaß by F. Mendelsohn Hensel and Moja dika by I. pl. Zajc belong to the Romantic period. The compositions from the Romantic period bring together vocal melodies and frequent changes of tempo, dynamic and character. Finally, songs such as Nebbie O. Repighija, Japan by M. Milojević and Azemina by M.Prebande belong to the 20th cent. Modernism is enriched with new ideas that break the existing norms and enhance them with the new content. Respighi's music is filled with harmonious colouring inspired by the Early music of the 17th and 18th cent. and the Gregorian chant. Musical compositions by Milojević and Prebanda contain the elements of folklore. However, while Milojević refines the element of folklore with harmonies inspired by Impressionism and Expressionism, the musical compositions by Prebanda are based on the fusion of the Dalmatian and Bosnian folklore.
