Solfeggio is a subject represented in primary and secondary music and dance schools. The aim of the subject Solfeggio is to acquire intonation and rhythmic knowledge and skills necessary for understanding the musical structure. To understand the musical structure means to be able to write down audibly presented notes or independently created music or to mentally turn the written music into notes or sing it out loud. Listening activities and singing activities serve to acquire and practice these intonation and rhythmic knowledge and skills. It is necessary to be aware of the function of the subject itself because it is the same basis and foundation for all other music subjects that students encounter in music and dance schools. Methodological competencies of teachers are necessary for successful implementation and realization of teaching and such teaching will result in the achievement of educational goals. It is important to motivate and encourage students to work in order to acquire relevant music education during schooling. Solfeggio teachers are guided by the curriculum of pre-school and primary education for music and dance schools from 2006 and the curriculum for secondary music and dance schools from 2008 where the teaching content was presented and explained in detail through the years of education which students should acquire at a certain level of schooling. The aim of the paper is to present the contents and activities in teaching Solfeggio, their representation, advantages and disadvantages and methodological procedures on examples from practice.
