The first few chapters of this paper shall set the theoretical foundation of memetics, provide a short introduction of the development of reciprocal altruism and tie it all together trough the formation of cooperative societies. To study memes in a trivial sense is to study the ideas that form a certain culture, which therefore requires the apriori knowledge of co-responding connections between the meme and society itself. Theoretical introduction is followed by a few chapters on the civilization of the ancient Egypt, selected as the prime example for the following attributes. Egyptian culture, unlike other early civilization, was in isolation until the arrival of Alexandar the Great. Therefore it provides us with a timespan of over 3000 years in which it is possible to study the effects of memes in a closed society. Another reason for studying the Egyptian culture is the sheer visuality of the civilization combined with the fundamental idea of the society. In the chapters following the Egyptian culture, the paper shall focus on the modern society and its primal attributes. Studying the mentality of the modern society, multiculturalism, fashion, trends, art and media this paper aims to provide insight into the similarities and differences of the two distinct cultures. At last, the final chapter shall round up the paper with a discourse on the cultural mutation and the survival of memes who are commonly shared in both cultures mentioned.
