Communication is the exchange of meaning between individuals through a shared system of symbols. It is one of the most fundamental elements of business and is crucial for the success of organizations and individuals. In the first part of the paper, the concept of communication, its types and application in business is investigated. The paper further discusses the historical and technological progress of the first communication devices, and investigates the way in which the communication process takes place with significant components that enable the successful outcome of that process. Certain principles, the so-called The seven "c's" of successful communication and business etiquette are described as important components for achieving the expected result. Also, an overview of digital tools and programs is given, as well as future trends that change in parallel with the constantly developing technology. Technology, despite numerous advantages, such as faster, more efficient and more globally accessible information exchange, faces challenges and negative sides, which is why it is important to list and recognize them. At the end of the paper, examples of successful application of technology in the operations of Croatian companies from the fields of information technology (IT), finance and healthcare are presented. Business communication is essential because it ensures clarity and accuracy in the transmission of information, reducing the risk of misunderstandings and mistakes. Technological progress has accelerated and has mostly improved the ways of transferring information, and it will continue to do so as long as the available tools are used properly.
