Abstract
U ovom radu istražit ćemo horor žanr, prvenstveno njegovu povijest od ranih 1900-ih do danas, te kako odražava pitanja, bila to kulturna, društvena, politička, ekonomska ili tehnološka, koja su relevantna za određeno vremensko razdoblje u kojem žanr djeluje. Ukratko će se objasniti definicija, značajke i podjela žanra, a na kraju ćemo razjasniti može li strah u horor filmovima biti simptom društvenog problema koristeći istraživanja kulturalnih studija kao poveznicu između teorije i prakse.
Abstract (english)
In this paper we will explore the horror genre, primarily its history, from the early 1900s to the present day, and how it reflects the issues whether cultural, social, political, economical or technological, that are relevant to a certain time period in which the genre operates. The definition, features and division of the genre will be briefly explained, and at the end we will clarify the question of whether fear in horror films can be a symptom of a social issue using research from cultural studies as a connection between theory and practice.
