The puppet show On the Trail was made after the text Fish in Trouble written by the Petra Cicvarić, and directed by Peđa Gvozdić. The show was created in cooperation of the Karlovac City Theater and the Aquatika Freshwater Aquarium. Worth to mention, the play is also a part of Lovorka Trdin's graduating exam in puppetry arts. Lovorka Trdin is a student at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek (Acting and Puppetry Department), working under the mentorship of Associate Professor ArtD. Hrvoje Seršić and Assistant Professor Art. Nenad Pavlović. The paper describes production process of the play mentioned above, with an emphasis on analysing the creation of the particular roles (Vanda, Diana, Barbara Bolen and Mladena Čuvarić) First part of the paper presents the original text information, as well as information about the author and the production team. The second part describes what types of puppets were involved in the play, with the analysis of mimic and table puppets: the puppets in the play are combination of these two types of puppets precisely. The second part of the paper is a description of various reasons why particular puppet type was chosen in the process, investigating the importance of the puppetry technology, as well as the role of visual appearance of puppets. Furthermore, the paper presents whole process of working on the play from the original to the final version; stage action during rehearsals appeared as the decisive factor in changing the original text template. The paper continues with the analysis of the creative process concentrated in understanding the dramatic characters – puppets, although the role of light and music in puppet shows was also examined. The last part of the paper discusses the importance of puppetry in the education of children and young people generally. Finally, conclusion emphasise the importance as well as social responsibility of puppeteering in shaping not only sense perception, but also the general point of view in the early age.
