Abstract
Ovaj rad istražuje multi-level marketing (u nastavku rada MLM) kao novi oblik poduzetničkog djelovanja, fokusirajući se na njegovu povijest, prednosti i nedostatke te njegov potencijal kao model poslovanja budućnosti. Raspravlja se o skepticizmu koji okružuje ovakav način poslovanja zbog svoje sličnosti piramidalnim shemama. Također, postavljena je distinkcija između MLM-a i piramidalnih shema te njegov napredak tijekom pandemije virusom Covid-19. Kroz studiju slučaja na primjeru tvrtke Herbalife, rad nudi prikaz kako MLM izgleda u praksi te se raspravlja zašto Herbalife nije piramidalna shema. Jednako tako, rad uključuje intervju s uspješnom osobom iz MLM industrije, pružajući uvid u iskustva unutar ovog poslovnog modela.
Abstract (english)
This paper investigates multilevel marketing (MLM) as a new form of entrepreneurial activity, focusing on its history, advantages and disadvantages, and its potential as a model of the business future. The skepticism surrounding this way of doing business due to its similarity to pyramid schemes is discussed. Also, the difference between MLM and pyramid schemes, its progress during the Covid-19 virus pandemic is set. Through a case study on the example of the Herbalife company, the paper offers a presentation of what MLM looks like in practice and discusses why Herbalife is not a pyramid scheme. Likewise, the paper includes an interview with a successful person from the MLM industry, providing insight into experiences within this business model.
