Abstract
Woodstock i njegovi nasljednici predstavljaju ključne točke u evoluciji glazbenih festivala, od originalnog Woodstocka iz 1969. godine do Woodstocka 1994. i Woodstocka 1999. Analizom tih festivala razmatra se razvoj festivala kroz vrijeme, s posebnim naglaskom na to kako su se festivali prilagođavali kulturnim, tehnološkim i društvenim promjenama. Početni dio istražuje društveni i kulturni kontekst 1960-ih godina koji je oblikovao originalni Woodstock, istražujući njegovu ulogu kao simbola slobode, protivljenja etabliranim normama i kontrakulture. Organizacijski izazovi i uspjesi festivala, uključujući ključne trenutke i nastupe, ključni su za razumijevanje njegova nasljeđa. Sljedeći dio analizira Woodstock 1994. i Woodstock 1999., fokusirajući se na njihove pokušaje da ožive duh originalnog festivala, ali i na probleme komercijalizacije i organizacije s kojima su se suočili. Posebna pažnja posvećena je utjecaju tih festivala na glazbenu industriju i aktivizam, uključujući i to kako su moderni festivali integrirali ekološke inicijative, društvenu pravdu i politički angažman. Završni dio razmatra evoluciju modernih festivala u odnosu na Woodstock, uključujući tehnološki napredak, fokus na ekološku održivost i društveni angažman. Sažetak pruža pregled toga kako su festivali postali važne platforme za promicanje društvenih promjena i kulturnih inovacija, reflektirajući šire društvene i kulturne trendove.
Abstract (english)
Woodstock and its successors represent key points in the evolution of music festivals, from the original Woodstock in 1969 to Woodstock '94 and Woodstock '99. The analysis of these festivals considers the development of festivals over time, with a special emphasis on how festivals adapted to cultural, technological and social changes. The opening section explores the social and cultural context of the 1960s that shaped the original Woodstock, exploring its role as a symbol of freedom, opposition to established norms, and counterculture. The festival's organizational challenges and successes, including key moments and performances, are key to understanding its legacy. The next section analyzes Woodstock '94 and Woodstock '99, focusing on their attempts to revive the spirit of the original festival, but also on the problems of commercialization and organization they faced. Particular attention is paid to the impact of these festivals on the music industry and activism, including how modern festivals have integrated environmental initiatives, social justice and political engagement. The final section looks at the evolution of modern festivals since Woodstock, including technological advances, a focus on environmental sustainability and social engagement. The summary provides an overview of how festivals have become important platforms for promoting social change and cultural innovation, reflecting broader social and cultural trends.
