This paper focuses on researching the impact of video games on the social skills and daily lives of young individuals. The influence of video games is a current topic of debate among scientists, with current findings indicating both negative and positive effects on the younger population. The purpose of this paper is to explore how video games affect young people and what can be considered a healthy consumption of video games. The paper will present the history of video game development, video game genres, the emergence of gamer subculture, and gamification as a modern form of teaching. It also presents existing knowledge and theories regarding the impact of video games on communication, emotion regulation, cognitive skills, and problem- solving. The objective of this paper is to uncover how video games influence the social skills of young individuals and their perception of time and responsibilities. The research sample consists of two groups of participants who play video games. One group plays video games for up to two hours daily, while the other group plays video games for two hours or more daily. Through a comparative analysis of data obtained from in-depth interviews, two hypotheses will be investigated. The first hypothesis is based on the assumption that responsible video game playing can have a more significant positive impact on young people compared to irresponsible playing. The second hypothesis posits that playing video games for more than two hours daily has a greater negative impact than positive.
